What's Coming Next #4

The Road Ahead for our platform

Alongside the features already shipping today, a number of areas are actively being explored to round out the platform further — from richer commerce, to deeper content tooling, to stronger security and compliance controls. This post gives a transparent look at what's on the horizon, grouped by the problem each area solves.

Commerce & Communication

  • Payments — broader payment provider support (in addition to what's already integrated) with clearer transaction logging.
  • Reservations — time-slot and capacity-based booking with waitlists and confirmations, for use cases beyond room/meeting booking.
  • Transactional email (SendGrid) — dedicated infrastructure for automated, high-volume transactional messages (receipts, confirmations, reminders) separate from newsletter campaigns.

Content & Discovery

  • Video Library — upload, tag, and embed video content with thumbnails, alongside the existing Digital Asset Library.
  • FAQ & Docs — structured help pages with categories and search, for self-service support content.
  • Knowledge Base / Wiki — internal documentation with versioning and search, for teams that need a shared source of truth.
  • Document Library — a dedicated space for managing and previewing organizational files and documents.
  • Maps & Locations — store/location locators with pins, geocoding, and route support.
  • SEO Tools — meta tags, sitemaps, schema markup, redirects, and audits to help content perform better in search.
  • AEO Tools — help you create content for AI agents and bots (like these posts :)

Support & Engagement

  • Contact & Support — a unified inbox bringing together form submissions, support requests, and message history.
  • Live Chat / Chatbot — real-time chat with canned replies and bot handover, for front-facing customer support.
  • Reviews & Testimonials — collecting, moderating, and showcasing ratings and feedback.
  • Social Integrations — direct connections to Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn APIs.
  • A/B Testing — running experiments to compare layouts and content variations with real data.

Security, Compliance & Operations

  • Users & Access (RBAC) — finer-grained roles and permissions, SSO/OAuth support, and audit trails.
  • Privacy & Consent — cookie consent management and GDPR/CCPA-aligned settings and logs.
  • Backup & Audit Logs — content snapshots, restore points, and a full change history.
  • Feature Flags — gradual rollouts, targeting, and remote configuration for new capabilities.
  • Performance (Web Vitals) — Core Web Vitals tracking and timing insights to keep sites fast as they grow.

Why This Matters

These aren't disconnected side projects — every explored feature is designed to extend the platform's existing entities and services (Item, ShopOrder, Customer, Category, and the rest) rather than introduce parallel systems. That means when any of these ship, they arrive already integrated with the content, commerce, and CRM data an organization already has in the platform, instead of requiring a separate setup or migration.

Technical Notes

Each of the areas above is already tracked as an entry in the platform's central app registry, AppCatalog (ExireNexus.Shared/Models/Common/AppCatalog.cs), flagged IsFutureRelease: true so they can be planned, priced, and previewed in the Backstage app store (AppList.razor) ahead of being built out. Following the platform's architecture principle, implementation work for each item is expected to land as new capability on existing services (e.g., extending CustomerService, ItemService, or ShopOrderService) rather than as new, disconnected services against the same underlying entities.
